What is neutral evaluation?

Neutral Evaluation is a process where the parties in a dispute voluntarily sit down with a neutral third party and informally present information and evidence about their case to the neutral evaluator. Once the evaluator understands the facts and issues, he or she will render a non-binding, advisory decision. This decision should be reflective of the decision a judge may render after a formal litigation process and hearing, and is intended to help the parties negotiate their own resolution.
